Kohima, February 25 (MExN): The Zeliang Wrestling Association (ZWA) is all set to conducts its 28th Senior & 1st Under 15 Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship 2026 under the aegis of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) on February 27 at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, Jalukie Town in Peren district.
Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister (Planning & Transformation and National Highways), TR Zeliang will be the special guest while Hiazu Meru, Deputy Commissioner Peren will be the guest of honour.
The meet is organized by ZWA in collaboration with 9th Assam Rifles, Jalukie.
The champion in senior category will get Rs 1 lakh while runner up will receive Rs 60,000.
The 3rd and 4th position holder will get Rs 40,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Losing quarter finalists will receive Rs 5000 each. The champion Under 15 category will be awarded with Rs 10,000 while runner-up will receive Rs 6000. The 3rd and 4th position holders will get Rs 4000 and Rs 2000 respectively.
The prize sponsors include; Er Swarai Meru, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B), Government of Nagaland, Lungriading Nsarangbe, IPS (Retd), Heiyilung Nsarange, Deputy Commandant CRPF 173 Battalion, Kiengau Nda, Retd BDO & president NPF Peren Division and Ada Nsanglung.
The inaugural programme will start from 9:00 AM onwards.
ZWA President Kengim Ilunglung will deliver presidential address while ZWA Technical Secretary Asam Teilia will administer oath to the wrestlers. The torch bearers will be Nlumrai, Reigning Champion NZWA and Peinachi, Reigning Champion SZWA. ZWA Vice President Itingngau will chair the inaugural programme while ZWA General Secretary Perangteilu will propose vote of thanks.
The tournament will officiated by referees from Nagaland Wrestling Referee Board. Mpai Welfare Society will assist as ground management.
