St.Mary's Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Mt.Sinai Higher Secondary School and Northfield today registered win in their respective matches on day six of the ongoing 2nd Kohima District Inter School Football Tournament here at Khuochiezie.
St.Mary's Cathedral Higher Secondary School downed Ministers' Hills Baptist Higher Secondary School 2-1 to enter the second round.
St.Mary's Cathedral HSS stay alive with two goals to nil against the rival till 71st minute.
Vevotso and Rukukhoto netted a goal each for the team in the 15th and 16th minute respectively.
Toshiakum netted a goal for Ministers' Hills Baptist HSS in the 72nd minute.
In the second match, Mt.Sinai Higher Secondary School overpowered Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School via tie-breaker.
The match witnessed 1-1 draw within the 90 minutes regulation time.
Rüzhükhrie GHSS gained a goal through Megovito in the 47th minute while equalizer for Mt. Sinai HSS came through Dougunlal Lhouvum in the 53rd minute.
The match was decided through direct penalty shoot- out wherein Mt.Sinai HSS registered 4 (1) win over Rüzhükhrie GHSS 2(1).
Northfield also qualified for the second round after defeating strong opponent Dr. Neilhouzhii Kire Government Higher Secondary School Seikhazou 2-1.
Dr. Neilhouzhii Kire GHSS took the lead 1-0 till 45th minute through Neitho-o.
Kethosenyii scored equalizer goal for Northfield in the 69th minute. The winning goal for the team came through Razukhrieto in the 70th minute.
