Appoints Akavi N Zhimomi as working president
Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): AAP Nagaland has condemned the press statement issued by “one self-styled AAP Spokesperson” Dr. Lemwang Chuhwanglim in the print media on May 17, which among others, informed about the suspension of Akavi N Zhimomi.
The statement claimed that the party had an executive meeting on May 15 regarding former AAP candidate, Akavi meeting NPF president and resolved to suspend him from the party with effect from May 16 till further notification.
“The press statement released by self-styled AAP Spokesperson does not hold water and remains null and void since the meeting was attended by only 5 State Executive members without even intimating the supposed meeting to the other State Executive Members,” stated a rejoinder issued by AAP Nagaland today.
AAPN, it said, is currently restructuring the party ‘State Executive Council’ post NLA general election.
It further condemned the act of tarnishing the image of Akavi, a senior AAP Volunteer and a founding member and Sushil Kumar, its Advisor as well as the party’s office.
The party termed it “very surprising and immature” on the part of Dr. Lemwang to issue suspension notice “without any valid ground” or authority.
“Akavi happened to meet Dr. Shürhozelie, an old political friend of Sushil Kumar, former DAN (Democratic Alliance of Nagaland) who represented the JDU as one of the seven signatory members while coming down from Kohima for personal work,” the rejoinder said.
“Meeting Dr. Shürhozelie was a friendly meet up on the part of Sushil and Akavi happened to accompany him.” Asserting that the meeting was never an official one and Akavi is yet to receive the ‘letter’ from Dr. Shürhozelie, AAPN stated that the letter which went viral on social media was addressed personally to Akavi and not the party office.
The ‘leak’ on social media even before reaching the intended receiver “clearly reflects the malicious intention of some outside element to tarnish and defame the image of Akavi and Sushil,” it added.
In this connection, AAP Nagaland has summoned Dr. Lemwang Chuhwanglim in person to clarify his press statement within 5 days from the publication of this “official press statement.” Failing to comply, the party warned to initiate “stern action” against him.
Party Convenor impeached
AAPN rejoinder further informed that the party Convenor, Amos Lkr was officially impeached at an emergency meeting held on May 18 in Dimapur for “failing to comply with the resolution adopted” on May 14.
Among others, he was accused of failing to put up candidate for ULB election 2016 and upcoming Lok Sabha bye-election, not fielding enough candidates during the last general election 2018, and not following party constitution and misusing his office on many occasions. The May 14 meeting demanded to set up a search committee and elect a new Convenor and to restructure the party within two days.
Meanwhile, on May 18, the house also appointed Akavi N Zhimomi as the Working President of AAP Nagaland for a period of three months till such time a new Convener is elected/selected.
It further appointed 7 Member Search Committee with P Moigam Phom as the Chairman to appoint an official Convener at the earliest.
