Ghaziabad, January 25 (Agencies): Aarushi Talwar’s father Dr Rajesh Talwar was attacked by a man outside the Ghaziabad court on Tuesday. The attacker, identified as 29-year-old Utsav Sharma, hit Talwar by a sharp-edged weapon. He sustained injuries in the face and has been admitted in Apollo Hospital. “The attacker’s name is Utsav Sharma. He attacked Rajesh Talwar by a sharp weapon and Talwar sustained injuries in the face. Rajesh Talwar has been hospitalised in Apollo Hospital and is out of danger now. The motive behind the attack is not known,” said Ghaziabad SSP Raghubir Lal.
Sharma has been arrested and booked for attempt to murder. He is a NID graduate and had also attacked former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore, who has been convicted of molesting Ruchika Girhotra, outside the district court complex in Chandigarh’s Sector 17 in February 2010. The attacker reportedly suffers from pyschological disorder. Following the attack on Talwar, the court adjourned the hearing in the case till February 8, lawyers said. Earlier, Talwar had filed an protest petition against CBI’s closure report in the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case and demanded a fresh investigation
A special CBI court in Ghaziabad was to hear arguments on Tuesday on the closure report filed by the CBI in double murder case. CBI’s closure report had named Rajesh Talwar as the sole suspect in the case. Earlier, the court had rejected Talwar’s application for copies of witness statements and false reports related to the case. The court had said that as a first informant Talwar was entitled to a copy of the closure report but cannot get documents related to the probe as a decision on the closure report is yet to be taken. The special CBI judge has also refused to call Talwar an accused at this stage of the probe.
On May 17, 2008, Aarushi Talwar, a 14-year-old school student and daughter of a dentist couple, was found dead with her throat slit in the bedroom of her flat in Jal Vayu Vihar in Noida. The next day, Talwars domestic help Hemraj’s body was found on the terrace of their residence. Former domestic help Vishnu Sharma was named as a suspect.
