The Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) of Kohima Town region held its 37th Youth Day at St. Francis de Sales (SFS) Parish here on Sunday.

Ruokuolhoubei Timothy, Advisor ACYA SFS unfurled the ACYA flag and exhorted the gathering. “In order to evangelize others, we should evangelize our lives,” he said.

While congratulating and encouraging the new office bearers, he also expressed happiness to the previous ACYA office bearers for conducting various programmes both within and outside the Parish and reaching out to the youths through all means.

Timothy advised the youths to give time to their friends and be a bridge between the youths and the church. “Fish out the youths who are weak in spirit, consult them and encourage them to attend service in the church,” he added, while reminding them to pray to Mother Mary for support.

He also asked the leaders to give space to the youths to serve spiritually and practically, direct them and love them even when they make mistakes and be an icon for them. “Being a Catholic means being in a relationship with Jesus and fellow beings,” he said.

Earlier, Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Richard Fernandez invoked God's blessings while Vingurie Judith shared the annual report. Outgoing ACYA president Andrew Tepa handed over charge to James Solo on behalf of new ACYA office bearers. Special songs were presented by youth members while vote of thanks was proposed by Aviu Augustine. Later, an entertainment programme took place in the evening.
