A coordination meeting of the Angami legislators and office bearers of the Angami Sports Association (ASA) took place here today at Hotel Japfu for the forthcoming golden jubilee celebration of ASA scheduled next year.
ASA General Secretary Er. Zale Neikha told the media persons that the main celebration will take place from February 7 to 11, 2017 at the Kohima Local Ground.
It will be marked by Naga wrestling, football (for men), volleyball (for both men & women), Table Tennis (men & women), Badminton (men & women), Sepak Takraw (regu event for both men & women), track and field events for both men & women, Golden jubilee marathon race (Open) and bamboo walk (men only).
Meanwhile, in commemoration of the golden jubilee celebration, ASA is organizing a musical concert on October 14 at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima from 5:30 pm onwards.
The concert will feature DGP band, Methaneilie Jutakhrie, Ruokuovotuo Pfiisenuo, Vikhotsono Neikha, Diethozo Thakro, Menguseu Suokhrie, Thejaneinuo Kiewhuo, Keneisedenuo Zatsu and Viriezhiinuo Solo.
A traditional stone pulling as part of the golden jubilee celebration has also been tentatively fixed on December 3 this year. The route will be from KMC Mini Bus parking area to ‘Y’ junction.
5000 participants in full traditional attire will join this stone pulling event, Er. Neikha said.
ASA is expecting the participation of 10,000 people for a grand feast at Kohima Local Ground on that day.
