Kohima, August 28 (MExN): Troops of Assam Rifles in Manipur under IGAR (South) apprehended six cadres of USRA group along with arms and ammunitions in a joint operation with Manipur Police in Imphal on August 26. As per a press release from Colonel C Konwer, PRO (Def), a joint team of Assam Rifles and IE Commandos established multiple Check Posts in the area, based on specific input of likely presence of some armed cadres.
After carrying out detailed frisking, the joint team apprehendeded five cadres of USRA. The release stated that they revealed about concealment of weapons in Shoronphai village near Heirokland which they had been utilizing for threatening and carrying out extortion activities, it stated.
The joint team carried out detailed search of the area and recovered weapons and other war Like stores. Other items like uniforms, pouches etc were also recovered from the site. During further search, sixth cadre was apprehended from the area.
One HK Rifle with two magazines, 36 live rounds of HK Rifle, one 9mm Pistol along with one magazine, four live rounds of 9 mm Pistol, 19 live rounds of M-16 Rifle, one Double Barrel Gun with 20 live rounds and one Chinese Hand grenade were recovered from the spot. All the apprehended individuals were handed over to the Police for further investigation.
