Shillong, March 24 (MExN): The Assam Rifles on Friday celebrated its 182nd Raising Day with a solemn ceremony at the Headquarters of the Directorate General of Assam Rifles, Laitkor, Shillong. The programme commenced with Wreath Laying Ceremony, wherein the Director General of Assam Rifles Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM & all Officers of the Headquarters paid homage to the valiant martyrs at the War Memorial. Raised in 1835, with just 750 Combatants, as the Cachar Levy, the Assam Rifles Force has metamorphosed into 46 Battalions and today is the oldest Paramilitary Force.
