Assam Rifles apprehend four

Longleng, April 2 (MExN): Assam Rifles have claimed that one of its battalions apprehended one NSCN (R) cadre along with three civilians in illegal possession of arms and ammunition during an operation conducted on April 1 in Longleng.  

A press release from HQ IGAR (North) alleged that the recovery from the operation included nine muzzle loaded rifles, one 12 bore rifles, one .22 mm rifles with magazine, one .22 pistol with magazine, ten live rounds of AK-47, 12 live rounds of 12 bore, 46 live rounds of .22 mm, 27 live rounds of 7.35 mm, 50 gm gun powder, drugs including brown sugar and opium worth Rs. 1,15,000/-, Indian currency Rs. 30742/- in cash and 13 bottles of liquor.  

The apprehended persons have been identified as Corporal Mankub Phom (39), Taushong Phom (43), Phamugee Phom (34), and one juvenile.   Along with the recovered items, they were handed over to Longleng Police Station for further investigation, the release added.
