
Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) has been conducting various farming activities at different district blocks in Nagaland.
ATMA Longleng block conducted demonstration on May 4 at Yachem village. Resource person, Tenhnyei, ATM Longleng block demonstrated on oyster mushroom cultivation and step by step process on vermi-composting. Aienla, BTM Longleng block demonstrated on yellow sticky traps for insect pest management. Oyster mushroom spawn and worms for vermin-composting was also distributed to the farmers. Alltogether 10 farmers participated in the programme.
ATMA Longleng inaugurated a Muga farm School at Yongnyah village, Longleng block on June 28. During the inaugural programme, BTM Longleng block, Aienla highlighted the concept of farm school and the role of a farm teacher to the farmers present during the inauguration. She also briefed on the scope and various aspects of Muga farming. M Doiphen Phom was appointed as farm teacher on the occasion.
ATMA Tuensang Noklak Block inaugurated “Integrated Farm School” at Noklak headquarter by Dr. Arenmongla BTM Chare block on July 16.
Dr Aren highlighted the concept of farm school and pointed out that the set up of farm school would provide opportunity for dissemination of farmer to farmer technology and implementation of new and innovative technology where farmers can learn on better practices of farming. Tsumon was appointed as the farm school teacher.
Demonstration on value addition of banana, pineapple juice and pineapple jam, nursery bed preparation, vermi-composting and training on tea cultivation was also conducted. Altogether 25 farmers attended the programme.
