'For a Better Dimapur' children clean streets

Dimapur, October 19 (MExN): After the initiative of 'The Cleanest Colony Competition' under the banner 'For a Better Dimapur' by the Dimapur Municipal Council this past year, the denizens of every colony have been working hard at keeping their homes and surroundings clean and tidy.

A press note received here said that in a move to instill the same sense of responsibility and to teach them about civic sense and how important it is to keep not only our homes but also our streets clean and neat for a healthier environment, the young residents of Island Colony, with the guidance of some elders, went around the nooks and corners of their streets on October 19, with brooms, dust-pans and buckets, sweeping, picking up garbage, and cleaning up drainage areas.

The children who participated in the social work were as young as 3 years to 12 years old. The Island Colony Council aims to continue to teach their young ones to actively participate in such activities even in the days ahead.
