DDLSA visits Ebenezer Orphanage Home   Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): Panel Lawyers of Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) paid a visit to Ebenezer Orphanage Home located at Indisen village, Dimapur on August 11. The purpose of the visit was to interact and create awareness about the free legal services being provided to the deserving sections of society including children, informed a press release from DDLSA. Moatila Jamir, Panel Lawyer spoke briefly on the salient features of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and also about basic rights of citizens and how to go about availing them. Akum Amri, Director of the Home, enlightened the lawyers about the history and progress of the home. He also apprised the visitors about some problems being faced especially with regard to the lack of a school bus, which he said is a pressing need for the children.     Demo on biological methods of pest control   Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur Aghunaqa Block conducted demonstration on ‘biological methods of pest control (Tricho cards)’ at Pihekhu village on August 11. Resource person Demalu Hasnusa, BTM, Niuland Block informed that Trichogramma are dark coloured tiny wasps and the female wasps lay around 20-40 eggs into the host’s eggs. The entire cycle is completed within 8-12 days. Trichogramma Chilonis and Trichogramma Japonicus, the resource person added, are mostly used in the paddy field. Tricho-cards have pasted onto them eggs of a surrogate host infested with Trichogramma larvae, which release pests that tackle other pests like leaf roller worms or stem borer worms, which are common threats in paddy fields, it was stated. Demalu further said that release of Trichogramma Chilonis parasite @ 1.5 lakhs/ ha (7 Tricho card) is recommended during evening hours at 50-60 days of crop growth twice at 10 days interval for management of bollworms.
