Canara Bank & NABARD organises FLC

Tseminyu, March 8 (MExN): Observing Pan India ‘Financial Literacy Week’, Canara Bank, Kohima Branch in association with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organised a Financial Literacy Camp (FLC) on March 5 in Phenshunyu Village, Tseminyu block for the three surrounding villages Phenshunyu, Khenyu and Phentejon.   The programme was chaired by SA Kom, Branch In-Charge and attended, inter alia, by Bendang Aier, AGM, NABARD, Lanuteka Imchen, LDM and Nodal Officer Kohima District and Nungsangwaba Aier, Officer, Canara Bank Kohima.

  Nungsangwaba Aier welcomed the 100 plus participants from the three villages and imparted the knowledge of various bank products and social security schemes launched by the Government and reiterated the need for every individual to open a bank account. The participants were also advised to submit their Aadhaar Number and link them with their bank account to enable easy, transparent and quick delivery of government subsidies.   Bendang Aier, stressed on the importance of financial planning, savings with bank and judicious use of one’s income. He also advised for creation of a Farmer’s club among the village folks to facilitate the flow of credit facilities and other financial assistance.   Due to the hardships faced by the village community to avail the banking facilities, Lanuketa Imchen, stressed the need to set up a Sub Service Point and appoint a Business Correspondent (BC) to work as agents of the bank.   A financial diary was distributed to each of the participants for preparing one’s budget and writing income and expenses.   Kesinga Keppen, Chairman of Phenshunyu village expressed gratitude on behalf of the participants and concluded the programme with a prayer.
