Excise dept’s revenue reduces drastically

Since the introduction of Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act 1989, revenue earning of Excise & Prohibition department has been reduced drastically.  

This was stated in the annual administrative report 2016-17 of the Excise & Prohibition department tabled at the ongoing assembly session here.  

As per the report, the revenue receipts are as follows: 1987-88 – Rs. 584.37 lakhs, 1998-89 – Rs. 550.90 lakhs, 1989-90 – Rs. 110.09 lakhs, 1990-91 – Rs. 82.32 lakhs, 1991-92 – Rs. 101.15 lakhs, 1992-93 – Rs. 100. 36 lakhs, 1993-94 – Rs. 98.35 lakhs, 1994-95 – Rs. 109.39 lakhs, 1995-96 – Rs. 157.00 lakhs, 1996-97 – Rs. 199.00 lakhs, 1997-98 – Rs. 210.70 lakhs, 1998-99 – Rs. 189.63 lakhs, 1999-2000 – Rs. 170.65 lakhs, 2000-2001 – Rs. 176.33 lakhs, 2001-2002 – Rs. 182.58 lakhs, 2002-2003 – Rs. 197.94. lakhs, 2003-2004 – Rs. 200.60 lakhs, 2004-2005 – Rs. 204.72. lakhs, 2005-2006 – Rs. 195.65 lakhs, 2006-2007 – Rs. 213.00 lakhs, 2007-2008 – Rs. 280.00 lakhs, 2008-2009- Rs. 333.08 lakhs, 2009-2010 – Rs. 311.75 lakhs, 2010-2011 – Rs. 299.23 lakhs, 2011-2012 – Rs.255.51 lakhs, 2012-2013 – Rs. 400.00 lakhs, 2013-2014 – Rs. 451.16 lakhs, 2014-2015 – Rs. 408.52 lakhs, 2015-2016 – Rs. 416.92 lakhs, and 2016-2017 (Upto January 2017) – Rs. 379.08 lakhs.
