Former ENPO president’s demise mourned

Kohima, October 26 (MExN): The Naga Hoho and ENPO today mourned the demise of Y Mankgo Phom, former president of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO).  

In a condolence message, Naga Hoho described Mangko as a social activist and recalled the “wonderful and cohesive relationship” shared with the ENPO with him as its chief. “A person who always contributed the best idea and approaches in all the common issues faced by the Nagas,” the Hoho said of Mankgo. Stating that in his demise, the Nagas have lost a leader, it further expressed condolence to the bereaved family members and near ones at this time of grief and sorrow. “We pray to the Almighty God to give the family members strength, comfort, solace and wisdom from above.”  

Meanwhile, ENPO acknowledged that Mangko was “an enduring and a dedicated leader, whose work shall be particularly remembered when the memorandum of ENPO Statehood demand was submitted to the Govt. of India during his presidentship.” A condolence note from ENPO president, Khoiwang Konyak and general secretary, Manlang Phom added, “We find no words to express our deep anguish and sorrow on his demise and shall always be remembered as a dear friend, companion and a fellow colleague President, who was also fondly called Papa Mangko.” The organization conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace with the Lord.
