Four Myanmar nationals deported from Manipur

Four Myanmar nationals who were jailed in Manipur after they were arrested for illegally entering the state were handed over to the Myanmar authority on September 10.


The four foreign nationals were transported upto Moreh, Manipur’s town located at the border with Myanmar and handed over to Myanmar authority in the afternoon, an official said.


The foreign nationals were Md Sofi (26), Md Hussain Amir (19), Md Yunush (23) and Md Abdul Amir (40).


They were from Rakhine and its neighbouring states of Myanmar. They were arrested by the security forces in Manipur on the charge of entering the 'Indian territory' illegally.


Since then, they were in Shajiwa Central Jail in Imphal, serving their jail terms under Foreigner Act. The authority here released them with the completion of their jail terms.


Police in Moreh led by SDPO L Meghabarna, who is also the immigration officer, handed them over to the authority of Myanmar government through its immigration officers at the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate, the official added.
