The 2014 batch of Naga students of Mewar University organized a thanksgiving programme in honour of the University’s chairman Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya on June 24.

In 2015, around 150 students from Nagaland studying at a technical college in Uttar Pradesh were forced to leave the college midway after release of scholarships by the Nagaland state government were delayed.

The Naga students were admitted to pursue technical courses in the UP college through an ‘Education Initiative Programme’ of the Eastern Nagaland Students Union, Dimapur (ENSUD), while the fees were to be borne by the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme of the Central government routed through the state government.

The fees due to the technical college at the time were estimated to be over 150cr.

The ENSUD president of the time Honko Konyak said that Mewar University, Rajasthan led by its chairman Dr. Gadiya stepped in to help the stranded Naga students. Through this gesture, the students were able to continue and complete their courses in Mewar University at half the price of the actual fees.

In 2019, the students of the batch, alongwith the ENSUD organised a thanksgiving programme for Dr. Gadiya honouring his gesture.
