Imposed election not acceptable: NSCN (IM)

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 4 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has released a statement saying that it “fully supports the prudent decision of the Naga people for solution of the Naga issue and hence, not to go for election.”

“We will stand by this decision to the end. We fully appreciate the wisdom of the Core Committee (CCNTHCO), the Churches, tribal bodies, Apex Naga organizations including Naga Hoho, Naga Council Dimapur, Naga Mothers, the Naga Students Federation (NSF), ENPO and others for their earnest and consistent decision to stand by the Naga people’s will,” a press note from the MIP of the NSCN (IM) stated.

It further informed that the NSCN (IM) would “uphold the historical and political rights of the Nagas and sincerely endeavor to negotiate an honourable political settlement based on unique history and situation of the Nagas and the 3rd August, 2015 Framework Agreement between the GoI and the NSCN.”

“We will not betray the responsibility and trust reposed on us by God and the Naga people,” it said while reiterating that “imposed election is not acceptable to the Naga people.”

It meanwhile cautioned that “serious consequences as per the Azha of the Government shall be imposed on any National worker found defying the decision of the Naga people.”
