Income generation through scientific pig rearing

Longleng, October 20 (MExN): The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) organised a 5 days skill development training programme on “Income generation through scientific pig rearing” from October 8 to 12 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) office Longleng. The training programme consists of scientific pig housing, identification of breeds, scientific feeding, preventive disease and treatment management, breeding, farrowing management, piglets care and management, record keeping, and economics of pig rearing. The participants were also given practical assignments on piggery project. The resource persons for the training programme were Lily Ngullie, SMS (Animal Science), Moisen Puchem ,BTM (ATMA), Lemjan and Simon , District Functional Specialists (NRLM), C Amei Phom, Agricultural Officer (DAO Longleng), Konchem , Assistant Professor, Department of economics (Yingli college), RK Roshan, SMS (Horticulture) and A Namei, SRF from KVK Longleng. During the valedictory function, KL Meena, Senior Scientist & Head handed the completion certificate to the participants and encouraged them to take up piggery management as a sustainable source of income generation.
