Joint Action Committee for Protection of Liangmai Ancestral Land (JAC-PLAL) has revoked the ‘social boycott’ on Bhumi Prasad Basnet, Executive Member of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Manipur with immediate effect after the latter’s admission of his ‘misadventures’.

According to JAC-PLAL, Bhumi Prasad Basnet admitted his ‘misadventures’ and also pleaded the former to reconsider on their stand against him.

“The leaders of JAC-PLAL and elders amply narrated to him the historical facts as on how Nepalese came to settle in Liangmai Nagas’ ancestral land, and also on how well the relationships between the Nepalese and Liangmai Naga villagers were knitted before some self styled leaders advocated their devil’s roles between the peaceful communities,” the Liangmai JAC said.

According to JAC-PLAL, Basnet confessed that he was misguided by some leaders whom he will never partner again in future but respect the history and also the laws of the land. The Liangmai JAC also said that Basnet “also committed to sincerely work for the welfare of the people”.
