Longleng, March 1 (MExN): The 6th Scientific committee meeting was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Longleng, Nagaland on February 26 at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference hall. A press release received here said the meeting was graced by DC Longleng John Tsulise Sangtam as chief guest.
The DC in his speech urged all Line departments of the district to attend such type of meeting without fail in future too for the welfare of the farming community. He also suggested to identify specific crop or product which have the potential for marketing outside the district, identification of feasible crop or technology which can be adopted and profitable for the farmers. He also appreciated the work of KVK Longleng and instructed the line department for follow up and collaborative work with KVK Longleng.
Progress report of KVK Longleng for the year 2018-2019 was presented by Dr Lily Ngullie, SMS (A/S) and the action plan for the year 2019-2020 was presented by Dr K L Meena, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Longleng. The programme was compered by Dr RK Roshan ACTO (Horticulture).
Abon Yanthan, Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR Nagaland centre, Medziphema chaired the technical session and gave suggestion on preparation of Kitchen garden kit (seeds, bio-pesticides etc) for different seasons, incorporation of marketing experts during skill development training, focus on disease and quality parameter of Horticultural crops on the trial taken up.
K Hokheto Sumi, Principal Yingli College also suggested on importance of market linkages in the district where farmers can fetch good return from their produce. The meeting was attended by allied departments like ATMA, NSRLM, Horticulture, Veterinary & AH. Progressive farmers from different villages also attended the meeting. Earlier, welcome speech was delivered by Thungchano S Ezung, Technical officer (H/S). Vote of thanks was proposed by Namei A, SRF KVK Longleng.
