Gurgaon, April 23 (MExN): Lenien Jamir representing Assam today lifted the All India Tennis Association (AITA) Ranking Championship Series-7 tournament at the Prostar Tennis Academy, Gurgaon.
After going down in the first set, Lenien fought back strongly and convincingly beat Renee Singh of Jaipur 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
En route the final, Lenien brushed past Sakshi from Raipur in the pre-quarters before demolishing Shraddha Chabbra of Delhi 6-1, 6-1 in the quarters. In the semifinal, Lenien beat Sana Khanna of Mumbai 7-6 (7-0), 6-2.
Earlier last week, Lenien Jamir and Raina Zaffar, also of Assam finished Runners-Up in the U-18 Championship Series at Karnal, Haryana.
