A total of 607 suspected samples have tested negative for COVID-19 as on April 25 in Nagaland. This was excluding the COVID-19 positive case from Dimapur, which went to Assam’s total tally, as according to the Nagaland state government, the “sampling was done in Assam.” 


As per the daily update from the Nagaland state government, no fresh sample was collected during the 24-hour period between 3:00 pm, April 24 to 3:00 pm April 25, while the total suspected samples sent for confirmatory tests stood at 613 as of 3:00 pm, April 25. 


Meanwhile, official sources disclosed that atleast 78 persons were retested and their results returned negative. These were people, who were exposed to the first COVID-19 patient in Dimapur, either directly or indirectly. The sources disclosed that the people, whose samples were collected for repeat tests, included doctors and technicians/staffers of the Zion Hospital & Research Centre; other doctors, who initially treated the COVID-19 patient and also his family and acquaintances.

Tests were also repeated on one person who was linked to Delhi’s Tablighi Jamaat scare and another not linked to the event. Both returned negative. The latter was a visitor here in Dimapur from Delhi at the time. The one linked to the Tablighi was placed in quarantine for nearly 3 weeks, the sources added. 


The daily update from the government, stated that 57 persons are currently in facility quarantine and the number of persons, who have completed home quarantine stood at 5998. 


Health services all districts available
There was reassuring news from the state government today for people with other ailments. 


“For continuity of essential services to the general patients, all District Health authorities have been directed by the Department of Health to ensure that at least one COVID-19 and one non COVID-19 hospital is available in each District,” stated the Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha in the daily update released by the DIPR. 


It added that all Community Health Centres, Primary Health Centres, Urban Primary Health Centres and Sub Centres are to continue delivery of essential services to general patients as well. 

 

Law & Order, relief camps
On law and order, the release said that no incident as to disturb peace was reported on April 25 in the state.  There were however 4 lockdown violations for which 4 persons were “bound down.”


Medical stores remained open across the state, while groceries and other essential shops were open in all the districts, except in Wokha today. 


While maintaining that there has been no report of food shortage and other essential from any part of the state, it added that no restriction was imposed on the movement of commercial vehicles for distribution of essential commodities and other utility services.


“Suitable arrangements have been made in Dimapur, Mon, Peren and Wokha for providing food and shelter to migrant workers affected by the COVID-19 restrictions.”


 In this regard, it said that there 4 active food camps and as many active relief camps where 439 migrant labourers are housed. “More than 2,000 daily wagers and needy people were provided food/dry ration,” it added.
