GPS Zienuobadze celebrates Teacher’s Day Kohima, September 3 (MExN): The students of Government Primary school, Zienuobadze Ward no 1, Kohima today organised a grand programme for the teachers at the school premises in commemoration of Teacher’s Day, which is celebrated on September 5. Limriba of class IV, who was the host of the programme, in his welcome speech thanked the teachers for their tireless effort in molding the students. He stated that this is the stage, the grassroots, where the students are nurtured to be disciplined, obedient, punctual, and become better persons. “We are so proud of all the teachers here, with your guidance and help we are here learning to become somebody in the society,” he added, and wished them Happy Teacher’s Day. Various songs and dances were presented by the students of different classes to enthrall the teachers and a bouquet of flowers and pen were presented to all the teachers by the class representatives. Kikrukhrie Yhome, teacher in-charge, while delivering the vote of thanks, appreciated the students for their presentations and performances and further urged the students to be sincere in their studies as well as in other extracurricular activities. She also encouraged the students to keep up the challenging spirit and enthusiasms which will in turn take them to a higher level.   Workshop for Secondary Science teachers held Kohima, September 3 (MExN): A two day workshop for the Secondary Science teachers was held on August 30 and 31 at the Conference Hall of the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Kohima. It was jointly organized by NBSE and Laxmi Publication Pvt. Ltd. where teachers from 55 registered schools of the Board attended. The resource persons – Dr. Debajit Dutta and SandipSenemphasised on how to improve the study of science in the schools. They spoke about enhancing and updating the teaching skills of the teachers and addressed issues and challenges faced by the teachers in teaching science. Addressing the gathering in the inaugural session, the Chairman, NBSE, AsanoSekhose spoke about the potential of the students and the need to channelize their ability and interest in learning science. She underlined the need of the students to have a strong foundation of the concepts if learning of science is to be made enjoyable and productive. RangumbuingNsarangbe, Controller of Examinations, NBSE in the concluding session underscored the linkage between academic proficiency and their relative performance in assessment or examination. He also appraised the participants how to bring about a change in the teaching-learning process.   Soil & Water Conservation bids farewell to Jt Director, head driver Kohima, September 3 (MExN): The Department of Soil & Water Conservation organized a farewell programme for outgoing Joint Director, Tashi Rengma, and Head Driver, Mezhulhou, on August 31 at the Directorate’s conference hall. According to a press release, Peter K. Rengma, Director, Soil & Water Conservation, thanked both for their services rendered to the department and challenged everyone present to be self evaluative, sincere and dedicated in their own work places.  Imkongneken Ao, Additional Director, attributed Tashi Rengma as “a sincere, dedicated and efficient officer” and also acknowledged Mezhulhou for his service.  Viliehu Nguzhu, Deputy Director, President of Association of Soil & Water Conservation (ASWO), described the retiring Joint Director as “a strong pillar” of the association.  Tashi Rengma thanked God for enabling her to complete her service in good health. She also thanked the staff for treating her as a mother and a sister and appreciated the unity of the department.  Mezhulhou also thanked the officers and staff for treating him as a friend and for helping him in every way possible.
