Nagaland Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, Nursing Council Bill 2019 introduced

The Nagaland Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and Nagaland Nursing Council Bill, 2019 have been introduced today in the third session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) here.


Nagaland Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and Nagaland Nursing Council Bill, 2019 has been introduced on the floor of the House after it was moved by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and minister for health & family welfare S. Pangyu Phom respectively.


NLA deputy speaker Zhaleo Rio said that consideration and passing of both the bills will be taken up on February 23.


In the statement of objects and reasons, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who is also in-charge of personnel & administrative reforms department stated that in exercise of the power conferred by Clause I of Article 213 of the Constitution of India, the Governor has promulgated the Nagaland Lokayukta (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018.


Therefore, the state government considers it necessary to approve the Nagaland Lokayukta (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018 in the assembly for enactment.


On financial implication, Rio stated that the implementation of Nagaland Lokayukta Act, 2018 shall cause a recurring expenditure of Rs. 50 lakh (approximately) annually and shall be charged from the consolidated fund of the state.


Nagaland Nursing Council Bill 2019

This Bill is to provide for the establishment of a Nursing Council for the state of Nagaland for registration of nurses, midwives, lady health visitors, auxiliary nurse midwives/female health workers registration of nursing institution and to regulation their qualification with the council and for the matters ancillary thereto.


In the form of Schedule, it stated that the Bill is an Act to provide for the establishment of nursing education in the state to regulate the practice by nursing practitioners and nursing education.
