Final notification issued to
food business operators

KOHIMA, JANUARY 9 (MExN): The Department of Health and Family Welfare has issued a final notification to all food business operators in Nagaland state to obtain license or register their food businesses under the Food Safety and Standards Act and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules, 2011 from the office of the Designated Officer (Chief Medical Officer) of each district before February 4. Licensing and Registration forms and other details can be obtained from the office of the designated officer on all working days, informed the notification. It further cautioned that operating food business without a license or registration will attract a penalty of upto Rs 5 lakhs and imprisonment of upto six months. The food business operators addressed to in the notification include food manufacturers, millers, grinders, whole sellers, retailers, godowns, warehouses, cold storages, distributors, transporters, stockers, agencies, departmental suppliers, repackers or relabellers, pharmacies dealing with food items and food supplements, hotels, restaurants, canteens, caterers and all petty food business operators.

WSKH condemns killings

Dimapur, January 9 (MExN): Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) has condemned the “inhuman and barbaric act” meted out to Akivito A Sumi, who succumbed to his injuries on December 30. Acknowledging the timely arrest of the culprits, the Hoho has requested the authority to award “heavy and exemplary punishment to the culprits so that it deters other persons (offenders) from taking advantage against such defenseless and innocent people in future.”  In a press statement, WSKH also condemned the killing of nine persons, whose dead bodies were found dumped at Pachaspura, Dimapur. “The Nagas as a peace loving people shall not allow its lands to be used as dumping grounds,” it asserted. Therefore, the Hoho urged the government authority to arrest the perpetrators and award befitting punishment so such incidents, which flare up communal tension do not arise in near future.

 Tangkhul Union Dimapur meet

Dimapur, January 9 (MExN): The Tangkhul Union Dimapur will have its general meeting on January 18, 2014 at Tangkhul Baptist Church Kuda, Dimapur at 11:00 am. A press release issued by the Union president, Lungmi Kasar informed that all the members are to attend the meeting positively, without fail.

TUCT urges to maintain peace

Dimapur, January 9 (MExN): Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (TUCT) has strongly condemned the “massacre” and dumping of nine Karbis in Pachaspura, Dimapur. A press release appended by TUCT president Neisalie Losou and general secretary Mhathung Shitio asserted, “Fighting and killing among our dear ones is not brave, but so called cowardice.” It further reiterated, “We want peace, not bloodshed. We want love, not hatred, and we want unity and harmony, not division.” TUCT further appealed to stop fighting, Killing, and bloodshed. “This is not a solution to bring peace, rather such ferocious and merciless act creates an atmosphere of misunderstanding or confusion and disunity,” the Union stated.
TUCT has appealed the authority concerned to take action against the culprits to give full justice to the victims’ families. It further conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, while making a “humble” appeal to all the Karbis and Rengmas in Karbi Anglong to ignore violence and maintain peace and serenity.
