Tuensang, April 18 (DIPR): National Panchayati Day 2016 was celebrated at CKS Hall Tuensang on April 18 organized by the DRDA Tuensang. The programme was celebrated to commemorate the 125th Birthday of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. The resource person of the celebration was SDO (C) Tuensang, Hemant Kumar IAS. The programme was attended by several Officers, Tribal leaders of various tribes of Tuensang, NGOs and VDB association of Tuensang. The key note address to the programme was addressed by the Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang Alem Jongshi where he also initiated the oath taking of the Rashtriya Samrata Divas. The resource person of the programme highlighted on the life Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and his commitment to emancipate the status of the down trodden mass of the country which also contributed to the creation of the National Equality Day. He also deliberated on the 73rd amendment of the Constitution of India and its impacts on the lower section of the people. The programme was also supplemented by the short speeches from DRDA, NERLP, SMB, SNP/NSAP where the speakers highlighted the foundation of these schemes and programmes and their functioning and achievement to the gathering. The programme was chaired by Chuba Wati Chang Project Director DRDA. Mokokchung: District Level Celebration of National Panchayat Day on the occasion of Dr. B.R Ambedkar 125th birth Anniversary was held April 18 at the Conference Hall of ADC planning Mokokchung. Marking the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung and chairman of the programme, Sushil Kumar Patel IAS, garlanded the photograph of Dr. B.R Ambedkar which was followed by oath taking. President, Watsu Mungdang, Moachila presented a brief life sketch of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
