North East Career Club conduct career conference at Chizami

Phek, September 11 (MExN): The North East Career Club (NECC), Guwahati successfully organised a career conference on September 8 at Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Chizami under Phek District. The programme was attended by 250 students from various schools in Chizami village and town.   Dr. Zavise Rume, Associate Professor, SCERT and Zhoi Lohe, SDO (CIVIL) Kohima were the Resource Persons for the Conference.   In the first technical session, Zhoi Lohe spoke on the topic ‘How to prepare for civil service examination conducted by NPSC and UPSC’ where he emphasised that civil service examinations are not only for the brilliant. He said that any student even the poorest student can succeed the examination if he or she works hard. He encouraged the student community to start preparing for the competitive examinations while studying in the school by laying a strong academic foundation. He suggested the students to develop a habit of regular study, read newspapers, magazines.   In the second session, Dr. Zavise Rume spoke on the topic Academic guidance and discussed the streams of studies after 10+2 and beyond. He explored various job oriented courses of study at 10+2 and graduation courses.   In the third session, Dr. Zavise spoke on skill based career opportunities in the modern world of work. Emphasizing the need for employability skills in the present world of specialization, he opined that degrees should be delinked from job and job should be given to the persons who acquire higher level of refined skills of doing jobs rather than academic degrees or diplomas as is recommended by the National Policy on Education 1986. The Resource speaker identified many skill based academic courses.   North East Career Club, Chairman informed in a press release that the participants resolved to form a Career Club in their respective schools in collaboration with the North East Career Club.
