NSCN (R) welcomes ‘political maturity’ shown by Arunachal CM

Dimapur, November 21 (MExN): The NSCN (R) today welcomed the “political maturity” shown by Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu on the Indo-Naga Political issue.

“He has not only read the pulse of the Nagas of TCL (Tirap, Changlang and Longding) correctly but had also understood how emotionally and sentimentally Nagas are attached to it,” NSCN (R) stated in a press release issued by its MIP.

Stating that Naga issue is a very old issue and deserves a dignified solution, the NSCN (R) said, “For the past several decades, Nagas of Tirap-Changlang and Longding along with the Nagas elsewhere had experienced untold sufferings. Hundreds and thousands of Naga youths, men and women had laid down their lives to protect the Nagas' Right, Identity and Dignity and obviously, it has never been a good experience to live under AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Power Act).”

Therefore, the NSCN (R) has appealed to all the leaders of different political parties in Arunachal Pradesh, civil societies, student bodies and citizens to rally behind the Chief Minister for the peaceful solution to the Indo-Naga issue.

It also added that today, after several rounds of political negotiation, both the GoI and the Naga people has reached an understanding to resolve the issue amicably in the interest of both entities and therefore a solution is being worked out.

“We would like to inform all the tribes and communities of Arunachal Pradesh that however may be the nature of the solution, it will be for the common good of all people and communities and it will also further strengthen the bond and brotherhood of all the residents of the state. Let us not believe in the false rumours spread in the social-media; instead let us keep our eyes and ears open and zealously guard the peace we enjoy,” the NSCN  (R) added.
