Orientation on peace building activities for students held

Mokokchung, September 28 (MExN): Peace Channel organized an orientation programme for students on peace building activities at Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung Town on September 23 last.  

Rev. Fr Paul, Principal of the school, exhorted students to be aware of new initiatives of peace activities in order to enhance their growth through learning and meaningful living in the days to come. “Living in peace, and making peace as a way of life will make the youth and young adults aim high in life and be free from the clutches of violence and self bondage,” he stated, informed a press release from Peace Channel Desk.  

Meanwhile, Supongtula Aier, Programme Coordinator, Peace Channel, spoke about the origin, major activities and the crux of Peace Channel activities and various peace building initiatives. She enlightened the students with an exhaustive presentation, in which, she said building peace is possible through peace activities and through the collaborated efforts of many people of goodwill. “This can be achieved through youth peace movement, training the youth in peace building, conflict management and human rights through the methodology of information, formation, transformation and evaluation,” she stressed.  

Akumnaro Longchar, a post graduate social work student from NEISSR, presented a documentary on Conflict Management. Interacting with the participants, she threw a challenge to the students to live at peace in their own inner self and take initiatives to contribute and build the society into a better place.  

Nearly 250 students and good number of teachers attended the programme.
