SAVDBU appeals Govt for release of DRDA salary

Kohima, August 21 (MExN): The Southern Angami VDB Union (SAVDBU) while expressing its resentment over the non-payment of DRDA staff salaries for more than 11 months, today appealed to the Government of Nagaland to do justice to the employees who are sincerely working for the down trodden villagers.

The union in a press release also raised its concern over the increasing workload day by day in spite of poor network/internet connectivity to cope with the ever increasing workloads and changing systems.

“Accompanied with poor banking facilities across the state that are faced by the staff,” the Union asserted it was beyond imagination that, the staffs are not duly paid on time.

“Non-payment of salary and insensitive attitude towards their demand will have ultimate effect on the village economy and development at large,” it added.

“Nagaland, being a state of villages with very poor demographic dividend, subject to hand to mouth livelihood economy will be largely affected if MGREGA funds are derailed by non-payments to DRDA staff, since they are the nerves and vein moving in state, working for needy poor in-spite of all odds including daily criticisms over criticism and allegation over allegations, bringing funds directly to the poor villagers,” the Union expressed.

The Union has appealed to the authority “to be more sensitive toward its own poor people,” while observing that the first phase of agitation of the staff has “already impacted the system for flow of fund to the state.”

Meanwhile the Union also extended its support to the staff on its “rightful deserving demand for salary.”
