Demanding the immediate ruling of the Nagaland Assembly Speaker, the sit-in-protest of Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu led Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Youth Wing continued for fourth day on October 26.

Present at the agitation was MLA P. Longon who was of the view that the ones who are "principled are the ones who love the NPF, which is the oldest regional party."

“NPF stands for preservation and protection of Naga identity, tradition and culture," asserted Longon accusing “Neiphiu Rio and T R Zeliang of destroying the Naga society for their vested interest and that the Governor and Speaker are 'distorting the provision of the Constitution of India.”

Longon therefore demanded that the system should be restored and let the rule of law prevail.

Refuting the claim of the 36 dissident NPF MLAs, NPF General secretary Akho Leyri asserted that it is was unconstitutionally installed by the Governor P B Acharya and State Assembly Speaker Imtiwapang Aier by flouting the provisions of the Constitution and the rules of the Assembly.

Leyri demanded the Speaker to immediately notify the appointment of MLA Yitachu as Party Whip and Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu as the Leader of NPF Legislature Party saying, “If they don’t want to follow the Constitution they should not even run the government”.

“We (Shurhozelie led NPF) are the legitimate owners of the party, and we will retain the Party and its election symbol – Cock," asserted Leyri.

With expectations of Indo-Naga political talks reaching a final settlement, Vikheho Swu, MLA, alleged that the 36 dissident NPF MLAs are "trying to make easy money by selling away the rights of Naga people."

Reminding the October 17 order of Election Commission of India directing the Liezietsu led NPF to hold general convention within two months, Swu added that there is no directive from the ECI for the Rio faction of NPF to do any such thing.

Swu therefore said that the documents submitted by Rio group to ECI on the illegal general convention held in Dimapur on September 20 last is null and void.

Urging the NLA Speaker to remain neutral, Swu hoped that fair justice will be delivered at the earliest.   The NPF Youth will continue their agitation indefinitely until their demands are met.
