SRD- Selfish Recruitment Drive

•-I thought of keeping my opinions to myself in order not to intensify the feeling of distrust among the different tribes, but the false allegations against the "advanced tribes" has forced me to put my fingers on the keypads.
Let me first make it clear this write up is my own personal opinion. I'm clarifying this because some people have the tendency to bring everything into tribal lines.
The Special Recruitment Drive, in my opinion, was a blunder by the ruling party. Surely they would've realized that it's a wrong move if they hadn't been thinking about only the forthcoming election.
Anyway, this write up has nothing to do with politics so let me get straight to the point.
Some people have been accusing the "forward tribes" of being selfish for protesting against the Special Recruitment Drive. Well, if the "advanced tribes" are selfish then they would've protested against the 37% reservation as well. And if u still term the "AT" as "selfish" then if we really think about it, the "BT" are being greedy. Reservations, qualification relaxation, SRD's... what else???
I feel that the "BT"  should actually be fighting for (including write ups) better roads, schools, teachers, doctors, and things like that which will benefit people in the long run... a permanent solution. There is no point for some temporary 'relief' such as the SRD.
Allocating 10 seats specifically for the "BT" on top of the reservation quota seems very unfair for the aspirants in general. Don't get the wrong idea that the people of the "AT" get jobs in the blink if an eye. There are many highly educated "AT" youths working hard and still not getting jobs.
Don't just think about "my tribe", "your tribe"... think as Nagas. The problem of educated unemployed does not exist only in one section of the society.
Another point which has been put forward time and again is how the "AT" employees don't go to their respective offices in the remote/"backward" areas. Yes, it is true and I agree that the erring employees should be dealt with strictly. BUT, I also know that many "BT" govt employees posted in "backward" areas are sitting comfortably in Kohima. This is especially so in the case of teachers.
And please... equality doesn't mean that each and every tribe should have the same number of EACs, DSPs, etc. It simply means equal opportunities.
So, my sincere request to the citizens is to have a broad mindset. You want to fight for your rights?? Find out those govt employees who don't go to work, protest if the NPSC or any other department fails to deliver the 37% quota reserved for the "BT" and last but not least, work/study to your full potential and try to stand up on your own two feet instead of always looking for a "crutch".
