Street Food Festival reaches Phek town

Phek, February 16 (MExN): Shehri Samridhi Utsav (Street Food Festival) under the theme ‘Eat Safe, Eat Healthy, Eat Fortified’ organized by District Urban Development Agency, Phek in collaboration with Health and Family Welfare Development, Phek was held on February 15 at PTC Office Compound, Phek with ADC and Chairman DUDA, Phek Avelu Ruho as the special guest.


As per the DIPR report, the inaugural programme was chaired by Khate-u Kezo, AUDO, Phek. The chairperson in her welcome note emphasized that the aim of the programme was to give platform to the SHG and to highlight food safety concept and hygiene. Invocation was said by Cherry Soho and inauguration of stalls by the special guest.


In his short speech on the topic of food safety concept and hygiene, Samuel Zehol, FSO, Phek reiterated that health is wealth, as health is the most precious and valuable thing for every individual. He also stressed on every food product to be labeled in order to provide information about the product ingredients and expiry date and also encouraged local organic products.


ADC Phek, Avelu Ruho maintained that we have to eat food not for our taste but for the wellbeing of our body as, we eat to live not live to eat. She also encouraged hygienic food and cooking but discouraged the use of plastics which is harmful for health and to the environment.


In workshop session, the resource persons Welhikhro Mero, Entrepreneur Associate, Phek and Dr Ngopelo Keveichu, Medicine Specialist gave brief speeches on the topics of entrepreneurship and women’s health.


Participants were Muho SHG, Forever SHG, Kuzukuve SHG, Khalho SHG, Vesu SHG, Makhrole SHG, Chephule SHG, Shurhele SHG, Dovekro SHG, Thitu SHG, Health and Welfare Department, PCCI, Phek.
