SVEEP Campaign launched at Longleng

Longleng, September 5 (DIPR): The Systematic Voters’ Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Campaign was launched at longleng on September 5 at Voters Registration and Education Centre (VREC) setup at the DC’s office. The Youth voters’ festival 2017 which begin on September 4 will culminate on September 8.

In his welcome address to the gathering students, Teachers, Lectures and officers the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Longleng Y. Denngan Aennoho Phom appealed to avail the facility provided by the Election Commission. The role of BAG & VREC was proposed by the AEO Longleng Renben Mozhui. He informed that VREC is the centre where any individuals/persons can approach the office/center in the absence of BLOs directly for any consultations like inclusion, deletion or transposition etc and any other related inquiries.

The AEO also briefed on various forms, Qualification for voters, Documents required and other related information for conduct of free and fair elections in the country. It may be mention that SVEEP is a multi-intervention programme that reach out through different modes and media to educate citizens, electors and voters in order to increase their awareness and participation. It is designed according to the socio-economic, cultural and demographic profile of the state as well as history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning.

The programme was chaired by Julia Yonghok, LDA AEO office who also proposed the vote of thanks. Sankalp Patra was also distributed to the participating students.
