Tetso College celebrates freshers’ meet 2016

Indoor badminton stadium and sports complex inaugurated   Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): Tetso College Dimapur celebrated its 23rd annual freshers' meet on July 25. The event began with the inauguration of 3T Arena, Tetso College’s newly constructed indoor badminton stadium and sports complex, by the chief guest Y. Vikheho Swu, Minister, Road and Bridges, Nagaland.   3T Arena and will have four badminton courts, a gym and other indoor sports when fully completed and furnished. The Arena will be open to students and the public by the month of August.  

Minister Y. Vikheho Swu addressing the students said," Every new beginning is characterized by fear and insecurity. If we have commitment and believe in ourselves we can get rid of it and be successful." He also emphasised on a few points - To embrace our Naga Culture and the good values attached to it like simplicity, truthfulness, responsibility and dedication; to get rid of tribalism and focus on the collective good of the Nagas. He pointed out the difference between factual knowledge and wisdom, urging the students to seek wisdom which according to him comes only from God. He appreciated Tetso College for having a single Student Council to represent the entire student body, which was one way of combating the evils of tribalism.   Earlier, the programme started with welcome address by Dr. PS Lorin, Founder and Principal where he stressed on the continued dedication to live  by the college motto to ’Strive for excellence’ to fulfill the college vision to have every Tetso Member impact life and create a positive difference in the world. This was followed by the enactment of ‘Nisapa and Nisala’ a tragic Sumi love story and speeches on behalf of the Fresher’s by Tsuyiba of Class 11 and Kitiyala of BA 1st Semester.   Dr. Hewasa, Director-Student Services highlighted the achievements of the past three years where the college secured many ranks and also spoke about the diverse student profile of 2016 with international students, rank holders and people from all over Nagaland coming to Tetso for further studies. In addition, two awards were handed out- Ritsa Longchar for securing 1st place in a painting competition organised by the NSS and Monjit Roy, Assistant professor, department of Commerce for 100% attendance.   The formal programme came to a close with the vote of thanks by the General Secretary PS Reishangnim and benediction by Daniel Khan, Assistant Professor of Political Science and currently the EGF Secretary in Nagaland. The programme was followed by the informal session consisting of songs, dance and more fun and entertainment.
