Tokheho Yepthomi 53 Annual Session of WSBAK

Dimapur, December13 (MexN): Tokheho Yepthomi, Leader of Opposition, MLA accompanied by his wife and Hewoto Awomi, MLA attended the Sunday morning programme of the 53 Annual Session of the Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (WSBAK) held at Luzheto Baptist Church on December 11, 2011.
Tokheho, while exhorting the congregation, said that life on this earth is for a ‘short period’ only. Everyone has to die one day therefore, while living in this world one should always do good things with one’s best efforts for the betterment of the society so that it would be a blessing for individual and its generation in particular and a society as a whole.
He said that the advent of Christianity in Nagaland has been more than 100 years and during this period he has seen that the Nagas were very good and fast in adapting any kind of ‘fashion’. However, he cautioned the responsible leaders to be selective of what is good and what is evil and urged the church leaders to come out openly to abominate the evil forces that are destroying our society and our generation and also needs to be encouraged to adopt and follow what is good for our society as Nagaland is a Christian state.
Speaking at the congregation, he also pointed out the anomalies in implementation of ‘Prohibitions of Liquor Act’ in Nagaland where the ‘law makers’ are the one who always ‘break the rules’. Nagaland state is called ‘Nagaland for Christ’ but the flow of liquor is unabated and the implementing forces are turning a blind eye to all these activities. Questioning the church and its leaders, he asked whether ‘a dry state’ could be successfully implemented or not? What is the stand of the churches and their role in the present scenario where corruption has crossed its all limits in every sphere of our society? He also made a mention about the condition of Govt. quarters, where encroachments are done randomly as if it is not a sin and the govt.  properties are not properly cared, protected or preserved. He urged the church and its leader to join hands in discouraging such practices so as to bring reformation in our society.
Hewoto Awomi, MLA also exhorted the congregation to bring some positive changes within the churches under WSBAK so as to promote good values not only in spiritual aspect but also physical well being of individual. Awomi, said that both spiritual as well as Physical development should go hand in hand in the pursuit of spirituality.
