Two UNLF cadres held in Manipur

Two active UNLF cadres were arrested even as Manipur police continues conducting search operations in various places in Imphal.

 

A police source said that the two UNLF cadres were arrested by a team of state police commandos from Singjamei Chinga Mathak in Imphal West district on Thursday night.

 

The police commandos conducted the operation based on a reliable information regarding movements of militants in the area, the source said.

 

The source identified the arrested cadres Md Nizamuddin (46) of Urup Chinga Leikai of Imphal East district and Chingakham David Meetei (32) of Keirao Wangkhem.

 

The police claimed that Nizamuddin joined the outfit in 2018 through the outfit's publicity secretary Shakhen of UNLF and presently working under his command.

 

While David joined the outfit through Nizamuddin later.

 

They were instructed to collect money from a shop at Singjamei Bazaar.

 

Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East police commands conducted raids at the rented houses at Andro Parking area under Porompat police station on Friday morning.

 

In the operation, the team comprising female commando personnel verified around 94 persons and four of them were detained and handed over to Porompat police station for further verification.
