Two villages inaugurated in Kiphire

Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): Two new villages – Maihpok and Okhe – were inaugurated in Kiphire district recently.   Maihpok village was inaugurated on November 13 by MLA Torechu. Speaking on the occasion, the legislator called on the citizens of the newly inaugurated village to cooperate with the State government so that developmental activities will reach the village and also called on the village community to cooperate with their parent village, Anatongre village.

“As a new village you should inculcate the attitude of tolerance and cooperate with the neighbouring villages,” he stated to the community.

The chief guest was accompanied by host of NPF party workers. The inaugural programme was attended by various neighbouring villages.

Meanwhile, Minister for Power, C. Kipili Sangtam on November 15 inaugurated Okhe village. Residents of the newly inaugurated village are said to have migrated from Kiphire Village.

Kipili said the government has recognized many new villages to address the needs of the people, and facilitate their benefit. The government, he assured, will assist the development of the newly recognized villages as the recognition has been done with the decision of the cabinet. He further appealed to the village authority to cooperate with the government and its machineries for the smooth development, prosperity and harmony in the area. He urged the villagers to stop selling alcohol and the like in their territory.
