UCM ‘appeals’ UNC to end blockade within 72-hour

Imphal, December 4  (NNN): The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has “appealed” the United Naga Council (UNC) to lift the ongoing economic blockade within 72 hours counting from the midnight of December 4. “Or else, the UCM along with the people will start a strong mass movement against the economic blockade,” it stated.   The UCM said that due to the economic blockade imposed by the UNC the people of Manipur both in the hills and the valley are facing immense hardship. “We are hopeful that the United Naga Council will oblige to our request considering the hardship faced by the people,” UCM said.   The UCM added, “We will start mobilising a mass movement with supports from the hills and the valley against the economic blockade” so as to bring respite to the hardship of the people of Manipur. It then asked the Manipur Government and the Central Government to bring an amicable solution “instead of indulging in the blame game on the impasse.”
