Updating of National Population Registration begins in Nagaland

Kohima, July 20 (DIPR): Updating of the National Population Registration (NPR) commenced on July 20 at DC office, Bio Metric Hall, Kohima.  

Speaking at a short programme, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima said that updating and entry of data in database is very important for the State as well as the individuals. He urged every agency and individual involved in the updating process to give due attention for proper data entries. He also interacted with the Supervisors and officers-in-charge.  

Additional Secretary, Home and State Coordinator, NPR, Libanthung said that the Government of India has given 90 days to complete the corrected database. He added that the main purpose of updating was to issue National Identity Cards by 2017.  

Assistant Director, Census, M. Peseyie said the data entry has been started in all the districts in the State with the initiative of Government of India. However, some districts like Longleng, Kiphire and Peren have been facing problem to download updated data due to lack of internet connection. He expressed hope that the census exercise will be completed within the stipulated time.
