‘Without culture we cannot claim our identity’

Dimapur, July 16 (MExN): IGP (CID) Nagaland, Richard Yimto urged youths to uphold and preserve cultural and traditional values of its own in order to keep it alive. Speaking as theme speaker at the first ever two-day cultural fest programme of the Yimchungrü Baptist Borü Chumukedima (YBBC) Youth department, Richard pointed out that “the lost of culture is the lost of identity which is ones identity without which we cannot claim our identity” and urged upon the youths to uphold and respect culture and traditions which survive for the generations.  

A press note stated here that the fest was held on July 14 and 15 under the theme ‘My Culture, My Identity.’  

The highlights of the two-day cultural fest programme included Berupuhru Jimtsah Wukhi Khun performed by 7th Mile Colony Cell Youth, Alaru Khun by Church Colony Cell Group, Berupuhru Ki Neak De Bin Khi Khun by Kikhruruzha Colony Cell Group, Khiungmongru Mushi Jih Khun by Dieze Colony Cell Group.  

The importance and significance of culture and tradition was delivered by Associate Pastor Youth, K. Ningtsa. The first session programme was chaired by Tsuril Y and Hankiu PET, while opening ceremony programme was lead by Ayan. The second session was presided over by N. Lemchimong YBM.
