The Interfaith Coalition for Peace held a discussion on the topic, “Women and Social Justice” at the Don Bosco Campus here on May 7. The consultation was part of a two-day event held May 6 and 7. First of its kind in Dimapur, the consultation saw women from different religions and tribes interact with each other on social lines. More than forty women from religions such as Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and varied sects of Christianity participated in the discussion. The consultation was an interactive one with women sharing their experiences of despair and hope. “We invited women from all faiths, so that we get opinions from all. The consultation was aimed at bringing up women in our society, especially in the North Eastern states, so that they contribute equally to the society,” said the organizers. Moamenla, Director, Mothers Home, Kenny, Nagaland Alliance for Child Rights, and Ella, Director, Prodigal Home, were among the key speakers, who spoke on issues like women and conflict, parental care and peaceful co-existence in the society. The consultation concluded with future strategies for better understanding between faiths and tribes.
