Wrestling introduced to Govt schools

The dignitaries at the launch programme introducing wrestling in government schools on November 30.

 

Kohima, November 30 (MExN): Shanavas C, Principal Director, School Education, Nagaland today formally launched the introduction of wrestling in government Schools under the Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, here at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.


Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, he said that launching a program is easy but carrying it forward is challenging. Stating that the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has a crucial role to play, he called for collective effort for successful implementation of the programme. 


Dr. Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha said that the introduction of wrestling will target the students (boys and girls) of government schools. He also said that priority will be given to districts with no wrestling history.


NWA President Neivikuolie Khatsu appreciated the effort of the Department and state government officials for implementing the programme. He assured of the NWA giving its best for its successful implementation. Kevileno Angami, State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland was also present at the launch.


The new initiative will be funded by the Samagra Shiksha Nagaland and implementated by the NWA.


Naga Wrestling Referee Clinic was also conducted where 17 old timers and 22 new comers participated


Hukhoneyi Soho, Kezhalelie Keretsu and Chisazo Dawhuo were the resource persons. The trainees were awarded certificates.
