WSBAK Akuvuto Music Centre inaugurated

Morung Express News Dimapur | February 27   With the objective of nurturing children musically from their early age in order to prepare them to become music professionals, Akuvuto Music Centre (AMC) was inaugurated at WSBAK Mission Centre, Akuvuto, Thahekhu by Ghukhato (Gugs) Chishi, Project Director, Music Task Force, Government of Nagaland on Saturday.

AMC is a flagship project of Music Department under WSBAK and its other objectives include creating opportunities for young people to develop their musical skills in order to allow them to get involved in church ministry. AMC, which is a non-profitable project, also envisages to provide music learning opportunity to the church leaders for effective ministry.   Delivering a short speech on the occasion, Ghukhato Chishi described music as one of the best outreach activities for the church. He said music has been identified as one of the main pool talents that could be exploited in the northeast region and emphasised on the power of voice in connecting people irrespective of their origin.   Encouraging the music teachers, Ghukhato said that identifying musical talents in young people sometimes depends upon the teachers going a little extra mile by dedicating their time and effort. “While musical talents come naturally for some, there are others who may not be aware of their musical skills. So it depends upon the teachers to identify such students hone their skills,” he added.   He expressed the hope that the AMC, through community support, would turn out to be a grooming ground for bringing music to connect with the Lord and be a place of blessing for the society.   With English as the medium of instruction and qualified team of teachers, AMC offers courses in piano, voice, classical guitar, violin, music theory, flute and conducting. Registration is open for students of seven years of age and above.   For more information, one can contact phone numbers: 03862-244010 and 9436603172.
