Robbery and Murder in Kerala, Apprehended in Nagaland
DIMAPUR, APRIL 14 (MExN): An absconding murder suspect, who was involved in a high profile robbery and murder in Kerala was captured in Dimapur. The accused, identified as Md. Mangal Ali (32 years) alias Ashad Ali, hailing from Karikhana village, Nagaon, Assam was arrested on April 13 by a joint team of Kerala Police and SoT, Dimapur police in a hideout near Shoxuvi village, 7th Mile.
SDPO, Dimapur, Relo T. Aye, told media persons that Ali was on the run and hiding after his involvement in the murder of the wife of a rubber businessman based in Pathanamthitta district, Kerala. The incident occurred in the early part of December 2012 which led to great public outcry as it was reported in the Kerala press that migrant workers were behind the crime. The reverberation was felt even in the Legislative Assembly of the southern state.
Aye said that Ali along with two accomplices had murdered the wife of their employer and decamped with jewellery and money. They were employed as manual labourers in the rubber business run by the 72 year-old victim’s husband.
Four months later, the whereabouts of one of the three suspects was traced to Dimapur, and eventually leading to his arrest. The Kerala Police team from Keezhvaipur police station, Pathanamthitta had camped for four days in Dimapur following all clues and leads, which eventually led to the arrest of one suspect. The other two suspects, who are also reported to be from lower Assam, are still absconding.
