DIMAPUR, JULY 22 (MExN): 24 Nagaland (I) Company NCC under the aegis of NCC Group HQ, Kohima has commenced a 10-day long annual training camp at Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School, Dimapur from July 20 to 29.
A total of 400 NCC Boy Cadets from various Institutes located in six districts of Nagaland along with associate NCC officers and permanent instructor staffs of the unit are attending this camp. The camp was formally opened by Brig SS Dhankhar, Group Commander NCC, Kohima on July 21, 2018.
According to a press release issued by 24 Nagaland NCC, the aim of annual training camps conducted by NCC is to impart collective training to NCC Cadets with special emphasis on the development of qualities of leadership. During the camp, the main emphasis will be to develop qualities of character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship, ideals of selfless service thus having a bearing onall-round development of Cadet’s personality.
They will not only be trained in weapon handling, drill and military subject but also be trained in national integration and other nation building and social service activities like Swatch Bharat Abhiyan.
Lt Col Vivek Shukla, Camp Commandant, annual training camp informed that special efforts have been made to engage domain specialist to impart awareness to the Cadets on disaster relief and response, environment awareness, career in armed forces, health and hygiene, drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, and vector borne diseases. A weapon display is also organized by the Assam Rifles for the Cadets during the camp. The cadets would be undergoing a well curated content of training thus empowering them to take on future challenges of life.
The Camp Commandant informed that DG NDRF, New Delhi has deputed 12th Battalion NDFR, Itanagar to conduct training of the cadets on disaster relief. A special training team has arrived in the camp to train the cadets from July 22-24, 2018.Nagaland State Aids Control Society (NSACS) has consented to train the cadets on AIDS/HIV and drug abuse prevention on July 28, 2018.
Similarly, Fire Brigade would be demonstrating fire fighting drills. The Army Recruiting Office, Rangapahar would be carrying out awareness on career in Armed Forces during the Camp. The Camp Commandant also expressed gratitude to the District Administration and especially to Dr K Vikato Kinimi, Chief Medical Officer for extendeding medical cover during the duration of the camp. Andrew Ahoto, Chairman Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School extended his full support and is facilitating the camp administration with the school resources.
