Advisor for Power, Tovihoto Ayemi on August 15 said that the state has achieved 100% rural household electrification under Saubhagya Flagship Programme, Government of India.


Speaking at the Independence Day programme at Bhandari town under Wokha district, Tovihoto said that the IT enablement covering metering, billing and collection has also been successfully completed in nine towns. He informed that the Power Department is implementing the Integrated Power Development Scheme in 12 towns covering 11 district headquarters and Chümoukedima town to strengthen the aged distribution infrastructure in order to ensure stable and quality power supply in those towns.


The Advisor also said that the construction of 5MVA, 33/11KV substation at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima was completed and successfully charged on June 25, 2019. Tovihoto said that the Department has taken up awareness programmes in 85 villages under “Green Village Initiative” which is a flagship programme of Nagaland Government to showcase and educate the people on Energy Conservation and its efficient use. Free distribution of energy efficient LED bulbs, FC Tubes and streetlights were also carried out, he added.


Upon arrival, the chief guest unfurled the national flag and later took salute from the marching contingents after addressing the gathering. Bhandari Eloe Hoho and Bhandari village presented folk song and dance respectively while Don Bosco Higher Secondary School displayed drill during the programme. An exhibition match was also played between Bhandari based officers and civil societies.
