Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan graced the valedictory session of the 10th Dr MGM International Physiotherapy Conference held at North East Christian University (NECU), Dimapur on January 23. 

Addressing the function, Ganesan said that the conference is a significant milestone and shows the commitment to healthcare and education, a DIPR report stated. The conference holds special importance as it honours the memory of the late Physiotherapist, Mahadev G Mokashi, a veteran in the field and his contributions have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the landscape of physiotherapy, he stated. 

Ganesan congratulated NECU Dimapur for hosting the Conference and expressed his happiness to witness the growth of the university as one of ‘high quality and contextual to the region in its approach.’

Appreciating the educators from various parts of the country gathered in the conference, dedicating their time and expertise to transfer knowledge to the next generation of physiotherapists, Ganesan said, ‘the collaboration and exchange of ideas in the event are vital for ensuring that the budding physiotherapists stay abreast of the current trends in the field.’

On the theme of the conference, ‘Changing Trends: Challenging the Future,’ the Governor said that it is most appropriate for the current scenario and in an ever evolving healthcare landscape, it is crucial for the students to be equipped with the latest advancements in physiotherapy. The conference provides a platform for the students to gain insights and to learn from experienced professionals, and allows the students to face the challenges of the future with confidence, he noted. Ganesan hoped that the knowledge gained and connections made during the conference will contribute significantly to the growth and progress of physiotherapy in the state and beyond. 

He also said that having an established Commission that empowers physiotherapists to practice independently have helped in elevating the status of physiotherapy as a profession and has opened up avenues for practitioners to contribute significantly to the healthcare sector. 

The Governor also expressed hope that the conference will be a beacon of inspiration for all physiotherapists and students and will guide them towards excellence in their pursuit of enhancing healthcare through physiotherapy.

The function was chaired by Dr Alisha Fernandes, Associate Prof, HCPT, with welcome address by Prof Dr CK Senthil, Kumar, Founder President, Dr MGM, Physio Con; Prof Dr Darlando, Khathing, Hon VC, NECU gave the welcome address; report was presented by Prof Purnima Singh, Chairman NPFT and vote of thanks was given by Dr Bhatri Pratim Dowahrah, Regions Co-ordinator. A prayer song and a dance were performed by the students of CMER NECU.
