The Nagaland State Home Department has disclosed that 1236 cases of crime have been registered and 1066 persons were arrested during 2015 under the IPC. According to the annual administrative report 2015-16 of the Department tabled by Home Minister Y. Patton in the just concluded NLA session, the 1236 cases registered included 55 murder cases, 49 attempt to murder cases, 10 culpable homicide not amounting to murder cases, 30 rape cases, 84 kidnapping and abduction cases, 3 dacoity cases, 44 robberies, 48 burglaries, 432 theft cases, 4 criminal breach of trust cases, 46 cases of cheating, 6 FICN cases, 159 extortion cases, 4 cases of rioting, and 262 other cases. Under local and special laws, 626 cases were registered and 872 persons arrested. They include 156 under the Arms Act, NDPS Act & DC Act- 106, NLTP Act- 216, NSR Act- 38, Explosive Sustenance Act- 32, Foreigners Act- 3 and other Special and Local Law at 75.
